      Bonjour, readers.  Another year is upon us, and what does that mean?  In all truthfulness, it means little more than a different number at the end of some meaningless year at the top of an assignment or on one of our cheques.   But if an "8" instead of a "7" at the end of a "199-" makes us better people for a few weeks after the "New Year" because of resolutions made in the name of this irrelevant system than who the hell cares how arbitrary the whole thing is? (Besides, how else would they make those keen necklaces with your graduation "year" on them?)
